The Summer/Fall 2020 issue of SLCC Magazine is comprised of three sections, two of which tackle serious subject matters: the COVID-19 Pandemic and undocumented students. The design leverages infographics throughout to visually connect the sections despite their unique looks.
Hiding in Plain Sight
Special photo treatments were used to reflect the somber nature of this section, which tells the stories of four undocumented SLCC students. To keep the focus on the students' experiences, the photos were cast in color with a crop of the background in grayscale.
COVID-19 Pandemic
To visually showcase the positive outcomes of Salt Lake Community College's efforts during the COVID-19 Pandemic, bright colors and a chunky slab serif were used. Infographics and iconography paired with a running timeline throughout the section to communicate data in an accessible way.
